How Do I Join An RTTL Neighborhood?
The process to join an RTTL Land Association is very straightforward.
These steps are laid out in detail in the LLC Operating Agreement of each RTTL Land Association. Consult your Land Association's operating agreement for details. This article serves as a general summary of the process.
Join the Return to the Land PMA (private membership association.)
Determine which Land Association LLC you would like to join, and which share of that LLC (tied to a specific parcel of land) you prefer. The different Land Associations and available parcels are currently available to PMA members in our members-only Telegram group, and in the future will be listed in the members-only section of our website.
Fill out an application to join that LLC. The application form is available to PMA members and is linked in our Telegram group.
Board Approval: The LLC Board of Managers will vote to approve or deny you, with the contingency that your criminal background check comes back with no concerning results (either completely clean, or with nothing that you haven't already told us about.)
Review and Sign Purchase Agreement: The LLC Board of Managers will present you with a purchase agreement for membership interest in the LLC. Both parties will review the purchase agreement and negotiate any changes necessary, before signing it.
Share Transfer Fee: You will pay a small share transfer fee and wait for your background check results to be returned before completing any other payments.
Background Check Results: The LLC Board of Managers will inform you of the background check results, and assuming nothing out of the ordinary, you can then fulfill the payment terms in the purchase agreement (payment in full of the purchase price, or initial payment if it is being financed by the seller)
Finalize the Process: The LLC will update their internal records and you are now a part owner, with a parcel of land allocated to you as per the operating agreement. A share certificate can be issued to you upon request. Otherwise, the purchase agreement serves as proof of ownership.
